This is just a space where I will write about the more personal things that I think about or am feeling. Unlike my other blog, Jazzy's Notebook, this isn't something I want to share with the whole world. So why blog about it right? Well, for my entire life I always kept journals. Wrote about my feeling and thoughts and experiences. Then, 2 of the closest people to me, read them, at different points in my life. I do not regret them reading it now. At the time I was so mad I threw all of my journals away. Years of writing gone. So, I turned to blogging. Here it is forever and I can share it or keep it private. Yes, I have random thoughts. I write about books, movies, gardening or whatever else comes to mind on my other blog. If you want light-hearted and easy going, check that one out. Here, I will share my deeper thoughts that are not all pink and easy. I usually keep the deep thoughts inside. I'd like to let them out. So here goes.

Update

Wow, I can't believe I haven't written here in 6 weeks! Today is 150 days in! I went to Florida towards the end of October. November just flew by! Overall I have maintained my weight and have been working out consistently. I have been hovering between 198-201 for the past few weeks. I have been struggling a bit with my eating recently. I just want to eat cupcakes, oreos and pastries. I'm going wedding dress shopping in 11 days. I thought I would be closer to my goal by now. I guess I'm just venting now. Just because I'm not where I planned to be doesn't mean I'm not thankful for where I am. I just think it's time for me to regroup and refocus. I saw this on my run yesterday and couldn't help but take a picture.

Update!

I know I haven't blogged in almost 2 weeks! It's been busy around these parts. This will serve as my weigh in and update post. I think I will post here once a week. Daily updates are getting harder to do with double workout days and trying to plan a wedding.

Today makes 100 days since starting this healthy lifestyle and logging it all. So far I am down 20 lbs. I don't have the exact inches with me right now but here is what I do have: (last wks measurements)
-2" from belly button area
-3" from high waist
-4" from chest
-5" from hips
-5" from thighs
-2.5" from arms
-5" from shoulders
my calf fluctuates between -1" or 2"

I think I won't measure myself weekly anymore. I think I'll do it bi weekly or even monthly. I will continue to weigh myself weekly though. I want to make sure I'm still on the right track.

SLACKER!!!!

I haven't posted all week! Sorry! I've just  been so busy! Ok, here is the quick and dirty. I will do a weigh in post and some pics tomorrow.
Monday- 20 min on jacobs ladder with 33 lb vest
Tuesday- wod pic

Wednesday-30 flights of stairs about 20 minutes
Thursday- wod pic attempt at Fran and it kicked my arse.
Friday- Rest day

Sunday, September 28, 2014

Friday: 51 burpees 12:12, walked about 5 miles this day. Too much indulging with my diet. The scale was up 0.8lbs! Not a happy camper but it is epected. You cant out train a bad diet.

Saturday: A true rest day. No workouts. Just watching sci fi movies all day.

Sunday: Back to business. Ran 1.5 miles on my break. It felt really good. I didn't feel like I was dying. I ran up the big hill. 48 burpees in my office (supposed to be 50 but someone needed help!) 9:58. Then I did 30 min on the spin bike with at 33lb back pack on while I did one load of laundry.

Good night :)

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Hooray again for posting on the same day! Say what?! LOL ok, ok. I will admit to my sins from now. I did have 3 1/2 cupcakes today. My wonderful coworker who gives Martha Stewart a run for her money baked the most delicious, fresh, moist, pumpkin cupcakes with graham cracker crust and vanilla frosting-for my birthday. There, I said it lol! Sorry! But remember my journey is about a sustainable diet that isn't too restrictive LOL! One cupcake should have been it. Not 2 1/2 more! But I'm human. I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I enjoyed every delicious flavor in each bite. Heaven in my mouth! Now onto the workouts.

Morning workout: 20 minutes on the spinning bike. 2x10 deadlifts, plank, burpees, squat jumps.

Evening workout: 3 rounds of 50 jumping jax, 10 wall squats, 10 burpees, 10 db thrusters (15lb each).

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

Tuesday: Did the pic wod in the morning. On my dinner break at work I walked up and down the stairs (4 flights) about 7 times.

Wednesday: My calves are burning from all the stairs! I didn't get to wod this morning. We went out to breakfast instead. On my dinner break I went and ran a mile on the treadmill (5.5-6.5) then I did 10 minutes on the Jacob's Ladder with the 30lb back pack on. I'm done today lol.

Monday, September 22, 2014

Sunday- Walk on the treadmil for 30 minutes with the 30lb back pack on. I sprinted for the last half mile (without the back pack on).

Monday- 20 minutes on the jacobs ladder. I thought it would be a "good" idea to do this with the 30lb back pack on.....that only lasted 5 minutes! LOL I also put it back on for the last 2 minutes. That was hard! It made me appreciate firemen that much more. Their gear weighs between 75-100lbs. Here I am complaining about 30lbs lol.

My birthday was Friday and there has been one lone slice of cake in my fridge. I have nibbled at it for the last 2 days. I included it in my calorie count but I'm just sharing this because my first reaction is to think it is bad or I cheated. I'm trying really hard for the past 81 days to change that mindset. I don't want to live life with all the restrictions and waiting to get to my goal so I can eat something again. Moderation. A few bites. It doesn't have to be the whole thing. I want to be at a happy place with food. Especially during that "awesome" time of the month when all I crave are carbs and chocolate. Ok, I think I'm done for tonight. No cool pics to share. Hmmm...I might have one of the cake lol! I'll share the cake and a pic of me and my stepson who came home from college for the weekend. I can't believe how big he is!

Saturday

Do I get kudos for posting today's workout on the same day?! LOL My morning workout was the bear complex. Bear complex = power clean, front squat, push press, back squat and push press. 7 times = 1 round. I went with slightly lighter weights and focused on form. I power cleaned right into the front squat and came right up into the push press (aka pretty much a thruster) lol. After 2 rounds I added more weight. After I was done I kept adding a few more lbs to see how it felt. It felt gooooood. :)
My evening workout was spinning for 40 minutes.
Here is the pic of my morning workout:
Good night peeps!

Friday, September 19, 2014

Wednesday: I did a wod in the morning that consisted of clean and jerks and bar facing burpees. FUN! not! The c+j were actually the hard part, the burpees not so much. Later that day we went to the Big E. It is a big fair that comes to MA each year. I was really interested in the fried oreos! YUMMY! Yes it is a gazillion calories. More like 900.  We walked about 3 miles there.

Thursday: Not having a great day, Just walked 1.5 miles on my break. I really needed to just run or do some heavy lifting to get my energy out.

Friday: Birthday workout in am- tabatta times. -2lbs this week. Went out for a yummy burger for lunch. Had a nice, relaxing birthday.

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Monday: gym stair climber for 30 min w backpack

Tuesday:  morning attempt at a workout and dance session, afternoon walk around the grocery store with backpack on  didnt eat enough today and was starving all day  legs super sore

I know this barely qualifies as an entry but I'm exhausted and need some rest. I'll write more tomorrow.

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Friday: I really did not feel like working out. I spent the entire day cleaning out my closet and the entire house. But then I went out to dinner and ate too much. When I got home I did the bike for 30 min with a 30lb backpack. Did a few deadlifts and like 100 jumping jax.
OHH Weigh in day: -1lb, -0.5" belly button, -0.5" high waist, -1" hips, thighs, shoulders, same for arm and neck.

Saturday: I had a busy day planned. I went to Boston with my bridesmaids to look for dresses. Before we left I did 3 rounds of squats and push press. While in Boston we walked 6-7 miles! I didn't think to turn my watch on until after the first hour of walking. It was an awesome day.

Sunday: I'm still tired from the weekend. Today's workout was pretty simple. 1 lap around the indoor track as my warmup. Then walking lunges one lap. Every time I stopped I did 10 pushups. Yeah, not fun at all. LOL. I stopped 15 times = 150 pushups It took me 29 minutes.

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Tuesday was a real rest day. No workout at all. I just felt tired. I needed it. I'm going to switch my schedule to the 2 days on 1 day off, 3 days on 1 day off. I was doing 5-6 days on and 1 day off. Now that I've been doing this for 2 months and have 2 workouts on some days I need to make sure I get enough rest. Exercise is only 30% of the fitness equation.

Wednesday: Back to business. Morning WOD: I thought it was going to be easy but it took me forever! Those plank jumps! KILLER! Afternoon WOD: Walk on the treadmil for 2 miles with 20lb backpack. I did sprint for a few minutes, without the backpack!

Thursday: It's Sept. 11th. One thing I have learned and kept with me from my xfit days is during days of remembrance you do a crazy workout. Veterans, cops, firemen, military, civilians-if they can fight for our freedom and ultimately give their life for us, I can dedicate a hard workout for them.

Tonight I'll walk or do the elliptical for 20-30 minutes with the 20lb backpack on. OH! I'm doing the walking with the backpack because I'm going to walk the 1/2 marathon with my good friend. That is one month away to this date! Even though this is "starting over" for me I am stronger today than I was when I originally walked the 1/2 marathon a few years ago. Honestly, I'm just doing it for fun and to spend time with a great friend. Nonetheless, I will be training for it LOL.
Morning WOD
I dont have a 400m driveway, nor did I want to run up and down the street so I calculated how many rounds of driveway runs I'd have to do to get 400m. About 5 rounds =400m.
My trusty running companion, easter bunny chalk!

Catch up time!

Boy have I been slacking on this blog! I promise slacking on the blog does not = slacking on my life lol. Ok here goes.

Monday:
Did whats in the pic. Then 30 minutes of spinning with a 20lb vest.
Second workout was 20 minutes on the Jacob's Ladder, 40 kb swings and plank hold.

Me spinning with the vest on (well back pack with weights in there). Yes it sucked :)

Friday, September 5, 2014

Wednesday was a real rest day. No workout. Nothing. Truth be told I was having one is those days where I just wanted to eat and eat and eat. I didn't do that but it was a challenge. I literally was antsy.

Thursday wod: morning was Fran 21-15-9 thrusters and pull-ups. Thrusters felt easy. The pull-ups were my challenge. I haven't done them in about a week to ten days. Since my tooth. Holy heck did I notice a difference. Need to build that strength again. Afternoon was just a walk about a mile and a half.

Friday wod: warmup. 10 kb swings 10 double unders. 10 rounds for time. I can't do consecutive double unders -well more than 2 in a row. But I jumped did I a double then single. This took longer but I wanted to work on my double unders. Prob just one workout today.

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Monday Wod:

Warmup
6 weighted lunges (10lb)
10 overhead squats @ 35lbs

Sunday, August 31, 2014

Saturday WOD:
Instead of Fatal 40 I made it Fatal 20 and only used 15lbs- I was scared. Turns out I needed way more weight but it was still a good workout. OH! Weigh in day! -2lbs and 0.5 inches in a few places.

Day 1/ Day 59

Sunday WOD:
Ran 10 min
sets of 5 back squats- air, 45, 55, 65, 70, 75, 80
tabatta times

Friday, August 29, 2014

Only one WOD today. Tabatta row, 12 rounds, about 1100k, 20 min on spin bike. OH, and 30 burpees before bed (4:47).
Tomorrow is my weigh in day. Today is the first day where I feel like I can eat solids again. I need to transition back to my normal eating from my soft food eating. We'll see what the numbers show tomorrow. Although no matter what they say this week has been pretty awesome! I was able to wear a dress that I did not fit just a few months ago. I have not worn it in over a year! I fit into a new pair of pants that have been in my closet for 6 months and never fit comfy. I fit into bras I have not fit in FOREVER. Things are starting to fit much better and people are noticing the changes. My neighbors and some coworkers have asked if I have lost weight. Well, one day at a time.

Goodnight folks!

Thursday, August 28, 2014

I know I haven't written every night. I'm just so tired I've gone to bed early. I'll be back on my normal schedule next week. Anywhoodles, here is what I've been up to.

Wednesday WOD:
50 Burpees am
5k row in the afternoon - rowing was not a new time or anything. I feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things after being out with my teeth, eating less and just bumping up the intensity.

Thursday WOD:
30 burpees am
lunchtime: run 1 mile, 5 burpees, 10 lunges, 15 squats, 20 singles- 5rft-12:30, then walk/run .50 mile back to work
evening : 25 min on my spin bike going HAM listening to empowering chic music-Don't underestimate the power of good chic music! :)
3 sets of 10 deadlifts at 80lbs
an attempt at rows at that weight
1 min plank hold, rest 30 seconds, then 30 sec plank hold

FYI- I'm all about the high intensity cardio. I have a heart rate watch, although it is primarily for running, I use it for all my cardio. I'm not sure if it accurately calculates the calories burned when I do that but... I like my intensity to be up around 180 (heart rate). Go hard or go home.  Then again it is not like I'm at that heart rate for an hour. It is intervals, sprints, and things like that.

I did my WOD (burpees, lunges, squats, singles on the football field!

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Monday's WOD:
10 min on bike - 2miles
then
10 1 arm kb snatch
10 situps
10 wall squats
10 min AMRAP
5 rounds

Tuesday's WOD:
Death by Clean & Jerks
I made it to ten minutes. That seems to my normal "death by" number.

Tomorrow, I'm thinking of redoing Fran. I could use a good, quick workout. It is getting easier to eat more foods. I can't wait to be able to eat normally without having to worry about these non wisdom teeth. I will say for the last few days my diet has been mostly soft foods and quite a few more desserts than I normally have. Back to business.

Weekend

No workout Friday. Today I went for a walk at the reservoir which is 3.5 miles. No workout tomorrow. I'll be back to my normal schedule of working out on Monday. I'm not sure if I will do too many weights until my next apt (Friday morn) though. I don't want to over exert myself and mess something up with one of my non teeth. I'll just do a ton of cardio. Still on soft foods for now.

Today was also weigh in day.
-0.5" waist
-0.5" boobs
-1" shoulders

-2.8 lbs this week
-11 lbs total

chipmunk selfie lol

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Today there was an ice cream social at my job. Yes, I had some ice cream and stuff. The idea is to not be deprived and eat in moderation. I'm not going to lie I felt like pure CRAP about 20 minutes after eating it.

Lunchtime WOD:

10 wall squats
10 one arm snatches (each arm)

Sunday: REST DAY
A much needed rest day. I am so sore today it isn't even funny. I wish the numbers would drop faster but I know it takes time. Still I'm happy with how this is going. One day at a time.

Friday, August 15, 2014

Friday Workout:
No pic today. I ran 3 miles on my lunch break, 40 min, 600 cal burned. I also did 150 squats. I'm in a virtual squat challenge group and am starting to curse myself out each time I go over 100 squats lol.

For the next 2 weeks my work schedule is changing. Instead of my afternoon shifts I'll be working 9-5. My plan is either one workout per day or, if I can, wake up at 630 to workout from 7-8 to leave to work by 830. But that is pushing it lol. I'm also having my wisdom teeth out next Thursday so I'm assuming it will be a no workout day for a few days.  Tomorrow is weigh in day. Let's see how this is coming along.

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Morning workout:
Only one workout today. In the middle of my squats my phone fell and my poor screen is shattered. Dang iPhones!

On a lighter note here I am after the squats.

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Morning Workout:

Afternoon Workout:
Run 1 mile 12 min
Jacobs Ladder 8 min
My new watch! TomTom Run Watch. Heart rate monitor right on the watch itself.

Today I felt good. A few days ago I was feeling a little frustrated. I want to see more results. I know it takes time. I know that it is not just about the results. I know this. I just can't help the thoughts sometimes. I did notice today my squats were easier. I am not dead after doing 60 lunges or 140 squats. My running is becoming easier and faster. These are good things. Keeps me going. The rest will come in time. It has only been 40 days. I just have to keep reminding myself to trust the process. :)

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Just one workout today. I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes. Intervals of sprinting and jogging. 220 calories 1.5 miles. When I got home I did a quick 7 minute workout. Push-ups, sit-ups, squats and lunges no pics for today's post. I did get a cool new watch ill share tomorrow. I also ate a small slice of pepperoni pizza. Not going to beat myself up about it. New day tomorrow and hopefully double workout. Good night!

Monday, August 11, 2014

Morning Workout:
warmup
Bear Complex x8
WOD
5RFT Cindy, 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats 13: 12

I was supposed to work out this evening but that didn't work out so well. Instead I did 5 minutes of burpees= 30 burpees. The good thing about these were that each one was done the right way. I was not crawling to stand up-I was able to jump for each one! Small victories.

I forgot to post my Saturday weigh in stats, so here goes:
-1lb this week
-7lb total

Inches lost
My fav snack-apples with this delicious spread below!

If you love peanut butter and chocolate this is for you! A little goes a long way and on fruit SOO YUMMY!
